We have seen Mandy blossom into a beautiful young woman—from her start as a teen popstar to a multi-talented actress and singer. She adds another profession to her resume, fashion designer. Mandy has launched a clothing line called Mblem. It has soft flowy fabrics, solid colors and an amazing fit. Mandy tells us about her new album and how the line got started.
Your collection started as a line of t-shirts. Tell us how it progressed:
I’ve always been jeans and t-shirt kind of girl but then I started growing up and becoming more comfortable in my own skin. We added dresses and nice tops to mblem. I describe them as fun, flirty, comfortable, easy and feminine.
Being a girly girl, I wanted to create a collection of what I would wear on a daily basis, something more vintage and with a mod-inspired direction. I would like the collection to grow and eventually add shoes and homewear.
What are you focusing on the most—designing, singing or acting?
Designing, singing and acting all go together and are all equally important to me. At the end of the day, everything has to make sense to me. Design feels like a break because its more light hearted. Mblem is a reflection of me becoming a woman.
Do you have any advice for aspiring actors/musicians?
Dont be so hard on yourself and give yourself a break. In due time
everything happens for a reason.
